Here is a powerful testimony of God’s Touch when He elects you to serve in His Kingdom, for the glory of His Name.
It is easy to feel purposeless even with a job title, marital title, degree, friends and a family where you are known as brother/sister/auntie/uncle etc. We tend to connect our purpose to things of this world – titles, professions, possessions, status and so on. This is dangerous as these things are not tangible or everlasting.
If someone asked you, ‘tell me about yourself?’ What would you say?
Basic answers include name, age but most interestingly is that people instinctively add their profession to the list. Our answers demonstrate how we identify ourselves. Such a response reveals that our profession is an important signifier of who we are.
More and more in this world, people are aligning their purpose with their professional careers.
By purpose, I mean what do you think you were created to accomplish on this Earth? Earth sounds general, but within your communities and the various spaces that you operate in including work.
To ask the what, you need to know the why.
Just like Andrae Crouch, he began to discover his why when he gave his life to God at age 9. At age 11, through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Andrae began to discover his what: to use his gift for the glorification of God’s name by bringing people to His Kingdom through music.
He leads people to worship God. Even after his death. Just like in Through it All video of a live Gospel concert. Gospel concerts are not a Christian’s only members club. Well they should not be.
Andrae’s testimony and performance is ever more relevant till this day. Just because it is at a Gospel concert does not mean that everyone in the audience had accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. It does not mean that everyone is a Christian. There may have been unbelievers present who came on their own accord or had been invited. It is also likely, that there are even Christians present who were struggling with their faith: not believing that God can or will help them. All these variations of people with different issues and hardships are all lead to worship The Great I AM who is God.
Especially those, like me watching on YouTube in 2016.
Just by the video alone, in Andrae’s instance, how indescribable must it be to be used by God and find purpose in Him!
It is an inspiration and testament to God’s Grace to use anyone for His Will. It is hopeful to especially for those who like me, have felt lost, abandoned, rejected and hopeless.
However, when you find the Shepherd that is Jesus and His Father, who created you, there is no going back. People may look at you differently: with pity, disbelief, scepticism or think of you as overzealous in your desire for Him. It will be tough during those times and the devil will attempt to steal your joy through all types of strategies including your mind.
Ephesians 6: 11
“Put on all of God’s amour so that you will be able to stand firm against the strategies of the devil.”
At times, you may feel vulnerable and think it is easier to submit to people’s judgments but God will help you, even after you find yourself getting into a habit of dismissing yourself or devaluing your greatness in Him. You may be shamed on Earth but in Heaven you will not be. Even then God subverts this feeling of human shame.
For the scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame”
The scripture says “on Him” instead of ‘in Him’. Even as I was typing the scripture, I typed it as “in him” and had to correct myself.
This is significant.
Believing on Him connotes to a perpetual action of believing on the strength of His name and power. It is not a one-time deal. Every time a troubling situation arises submit it to the power of God: each time declare victory on the strength of His name and His obedience at the Cross. You will surely not be put to shame.
We must continue to build our confidence in Him by working our faith otherwise there would be no need to fight the struggle of disbelief that so many people struggle with, Christians and non-Christians.
We perpetuate our beliefs by what we choose to give attention to, what we declare, what we say, confess and profess. Whether it be in our hearts or out loud…
I.e. someone who constantly thinks, declares, professes and so believes, that they are worthless only strengthens this conviction.
It is the same with our walk with Christ. We must continually seek to strengthen our faith – to believe in your heart in God: His mighty power, His never-ending love for you, that Jesus’ death washed your sins away, past and present and our acceptance of Him as your Saviour is when we received salvation etc.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Now don’t beat yourself up that unlike Andrae Crouch you did not give your life to Christ at age 9; did not receive a life-changing spiritual gift at age 11 or that you do not know what your purpose is or why your were created. But you do not have to be 9 or 11 to ask God to reveal these things to you.
I am still seeking God for these answers.
In this time, strengthen your faith. Faith in all areas including this truth that YOU DO have a purpose in HIM and that He will/is guiding you along a purpose-filled path even if no one can see it, not even yourself.
…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil His GOOD PURPOSE.
I am very eager to start the process of being used by Him because I have never felt that I could be used for anything great. But in Him we are all called to a greater purpose.
To be honest, I think He is already working in me. How can we measure the starting point of God’s work in us when He formed us before we were born? When He already knows our end from the beginning?
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank You for making me wonderfully complex. Your workmanship is marvellous – how well I know it.
I am God, and there is none like Me. Declaring the end from the beginning.
This post is evidence of His work in me.
